Our Five Star Reviews for Seniors’
“Approaching this course was quite daunting, wondering about all of the things we were going to hear, expecting to come away filled with doom & gloom about what the future might hold. On the contrary, what I discovered was not only fascinating, if challenging at moments. Vitally I understood how much I can do myself to shape the road ahead of me into later life. Rooted in empirical science and years of painstaking research, Patrick’s course is hugely informative – inspiring even. His enthusiasm for his subject makes it a genuinely enjoyable experience. Would definitely recommend!”
“Patrick Duncan is an exceptional individual; he has created an incredibly impressive canon of work on Alzheimer’s – and the best ways for all of us to avoid it. Dementia in its broadest sense will very likely prove to be the medical condition of this century, just as cancer was the shadow during the last. Doing everything we can to avoid, or at least minimise, the ravages of the dementia syndrome is a critically important issue for us all. New Synapse offers all the information anyone will surely ever need to understand what they can do to side-step the disease. I recommend this programme wholeheartedly to anyone.”
“I found Patrick’s 2-day course both fascinating and invaluable. Having seen my late mother suffer from dementia for over 6 years, deteriorating almost day by day, I now have a far better understanding of how to prevent this cruel disease. I commend this course warmly to anyone interested in looking after themselves and their loved ones better into their senior years, while doing all that evidence-based science suggests we should at least consider doing to maximise our own individual health-spans over lifespans.”
“Patrick Duncan presented a course that was well designed, very well delivered and packed with interesting material. He has spent many years assembling the best available current research in the field of Alzheimer’s and then distilling the best of that down into accessible, user-friendly ‘pillars’ which are presented in a really comfortable, purpose-designed learning environment. All of us on the programme left feeling much better informed and equipped to navigate a path through life which should avoid the on-set of Alzheimer’s in our advancing years.”
“This was a most informative programme and it was exceptionally well presented. Patrick is clearly passionate about his key message – we can all maintain our brain health to the grave. He has really researched this subject in great depth, while keeping himself ‘on point’ about any new developments in this fast moving field of science. The facilities New Synapse offers are excellent and situated in a lovely part of the country. I feel that everyone would not only benefit from the life-enhancing information this course imparts, but even enjoy the experience!”
“Since attending the Alzheimer prevention course I have realised for the first time just how crucial my life style choices really are. I personally feel that I still have a tremendous amount I want to do in life, but I’m not going to be able to do it if I allow my brain to wither and decay. Instead of helping others I will be end up being a burden to them! So for me the course was a bit of a ‘Road to Damascus’ moment. I have decided to focus on a single Brain Health Pillar a month for the next 6 months; that way, hopefully in 6 months’ time, my chances of making the most of my remaining years will be enhanced. The course has given me a structure and a plan. I definitely now know better, so I intend to do better!“
“Patrick delivered a brilliantly summarised explanation of the science and the latest research into the causes of Alzheimer’s, followed by the practical preventative steps that we can all decide to take against this existential threat. His New Synapse briefing and training centre provided a totally relaxed & bespoke environment in which to listen and absorb the key information, as well as sharing our individual experiences of dementia in each of our own families.
We return to our invariably busy lives armed with an arsenal of proven techniques and strategies to trial as breaking mechanisms against cognitive decline. Attending the course with a nucleus of old friends was a joy too – maybe something to encourage with future courses (groups of school, university or work friends maybe).
Margrit’s fabulous lunches alongside the stunning setting of Marl House itself added to the overall enjoyment of this totally unique programme. Thank you, Patrick and Margrit. “
“Patrick’s course seems a rare thing – thoroughly researched, credible, accessible and presented in a lovely, understated way. There is no tub-thumping, finger-wagging or arm-up-your-back persuasion.
Rather, Patrick makes his case in measured, steady and accessible conversation. And he is on to something. The Alzheimer’s material in particular feels bang-on. We can do something about this most unnerving condition. He shows you what. And I believe him. ”
“As I rapidly approach my 70th Birthday I have been dreading the increasing brain fog and impending impairment that old age brings us all – or does it?” Having spent a couple of days with Patrick having a blast of “Alzheimer’s Prevention Science”, I now feel inspired and enlightened enough to take a greater measure of control over my destiny.
Patrick is not selling a product but offering a well researched and proven way forward. He debunks many of the claims of the global pharmaceutical companies and focuses on very achievable lifestyle changes that can dramatically improve our chances of delaying dementia and enjoying a higher quality of life.
His message is clear and simple – and delivered with a passion. It needs to be shared with as wide an audience as possible. Do not sit back and wait for a ‘cure all pill’ to save you – that is not coming anytime soon! “New Synapse” is there now, take a look and you will soon realise the real benefits to be gained.”
“I learned a lot from Patrick’s depth of knowledge and impactful style of presentation. I have come away well equipped to change aspects of my lifestyle to mitigate the effects of ageing and to maintain a balanced, healthy state of mind – totally confident in his brain healthguidance convincingly underpinned by the latest brain science.
The peaceful, almost sereneenvironment, and the high quality facilities made available to us, were the perfect foil to the training delivered. I highly recommend a visit to New Synapse for anyone seeking to bolstertheir quality of life and ‘healthspan’.”
“Patrick, what a fantastic course you ran for us this week! Thank you. I arrived with a limited knowledge but with a real desire to know more about dementia and Alzheimer’s having some senior members of my family suffering from the disease.
I left with a great baseline knowledge which will help me enormously as we continue to support our own family members. It was also a wake–up call for my wife and me as we look at how we can delay the diseased associated with ageing by easily improving our own lifestyles and habits, one small step at a time.
I wish I had found a course like this earlier which would also have helped me in my previous profession. Many thanks to you both for hosting us so well in such a beautiful setting.”
“Having watched my mother disappear into her own little twilight world and needing expensive full time care until the inevitable end, I thought that was to be my future too. After an intensive two day seminar with Patrick at New Synapse I now realise that there is a real potential to change my outcome. He has convinced me that small life style changes can have marked effect on the onset of Dementia. The supporting science is out there and he has done a fantastic job in collating all the relevant information and presenting it in an easily digestible format. He has sowed the seeds of change for me and pointed out the way ahead. This not ‘pie in the sky theory’ but evidenced-based research that can be accessed by us all.
Having suffered intestinal problems for most of my adult life, I can now understand why I potentially have suffered huge mood swings and bouts of depression. The session dealing with the relationship between the Gut and the Brain was a real eye-opener; it has set me on a new path that deserves further investigation.
Despite the seriousness of the subject matter, all the information was delivered in a manner that made for a fun and memorable couple of days in a great location too. Thank you!”
“I strongly recommend this Alzheimer’s Prevention course – it’s both absorbing and fascinating. I am in no doubt that I have gained vital, immensely practical information that will now allow me for the first time in my life to start really taking care of my own brain health into old age. I’m perfectly poised to take the driving seat in this critically important process.
Patrick is an engaging instructor, and so clearly passionate about this key information he so wishes to share with others. He has a knack for breaking down complicated information into clear and digestible chunks that all fit together by the end of the package. Attention-grabbing footage actually shows vital brain processes in action. I can now picture, in a vivid and indelible way, just how my own brain is working for me – 24/7!
I departed from this short two–day course feeling encouraged and determined to put all that practically based information to good use. I now know how I can optimise my brain health and mitigate the insidious effects of ageing on my brain health – all the while doing my utmost to keep dementia at bay.”
“The presentation and content of Patrick’s course was incredibly valuable – ‘mind blowing’ in fact. I found the course really well–structured, beautifully supported by colourful and impactful graphics and video – the whole accompanied by in-depth, expert explanation.
Its holistic approach links together so many aspects of life that we can all relate to. It develops deeper personal understanding which subsequently motivates you to improve your own brain health as you age. I can’t thank you enough Patrick!”
“A clashing commitment prevented my wife and I from attending the Alzheimer’s Prevention Workshop in Dorset, at the last minute. I subsequently received copy of some of its key content which we’ve studied.
I can honestly say that New Synapse is pretty unique – across the UK, possibly even further afield. The meticulous research that supports this really important briefing quite simply has the potential to change lives – for the better. Prevention remains the only real defence against this identity-robbing disease. There is no silver bullet or magic cure on the horizon, so don’t believe the sensationalist Press claims that these exist.
The key is to understand exactly WHAT we should consider doing to avoid its onset in the first place; WHY (The basic neuroscience behind it all), and how we can all take these action steps to build up our defences in the least possible time, and with the least effort.
And that’s what the 2-day “Alzheimer’s – The Science of Prevention” package promises, and delivers – in Spades!”
