Get ‘A-head’

Psychological research suggests that youngsters armed with scientifically based study skills are more likely to go on to realise their maximum academic potential. As they grow and mature, these bespoke learning skills naturally root deeper, allowing them to ‘Get A-head’ and stay ahead.

Education systems have historically only taught us WHAT to learn (History, Maths, Science, Geography, Spanish etc.). Hardly ever have they taught us HOW to learn – and yet learning HOW to learn may just be the most important skill anyone can ever master.

Neuro-Performance

New Synapse equips each student with a unique Accelerated Learning System (ALS). It comprises a carefully balanced combination of mind mapping, mnemonics (memory peg systems) with spaced repetition scheduling. These psychology-based techniques are reinforced with a basic understanding of how our brains prefer to acquire, store and recall new information naturally. Students are also introduced to the basic biological ‘brain maintenance’ steps we should all follow to maintain optimum brain performance.

Accelerated Learning System

Each element of the ALS has been test-trialled over a number of years: our three children; SEN youngsters; Sandhurst cadets; junior officers in UK Commando Forces; Joint Staff College students and overseas UK embassy staff. They work and they add real value. The core skills are explained and practised in either a focused two-day package, or over a more relaxed four-day option in which the afternoons are kept free to enjoy some of the many local attractions on the Jurassic Coast.

Extraordinary Minds

Importantly, the speed learning techniques shared with students aim to complement, not replace, classroom orthodoxy. Like golf clubs, the skills can be pulled out of the bag when needed. Regardless of age or starting point, the unique New Synapse accelerated learning system holds the power to turn ordinary minds into extraordinary ones.
